Steering committee held council inauguration event at SABA center in San Jose. The event was well attended by over 200 representitives of the mosques and non-profits. A resolution was passed to establish the council.

Twenty seven community leaders form ad hoc committee to establish Northern California Islamic Council. The meeting took place in Milpitas. Eighty leaders from diverse ethnicity and schools of thought were invited with a mission to bring unity and excellence to Muslim non-profits through cooperation and coordination
